The first dance is another traditional, must-capture wedding event. I almost always use flash to augment rather than override the ambient lighting, which is generally too dim and/or too variable to be sure of getting quality images. This is where photographic skill and technical understanding come in, knowing what settings to use to balance the flash with the ambient lighting in order to really capture the mood, as flash that is too strong destroys the ambience.
